Why is orienteering insurance essential?

Orienteering means running at speed through forest and technical terrain while navigating with a map and compass. Reading on the move over uneven, wooded ground multiplies the risks, and a twisted ankle, a fall or contact with vegetation causes ankle sprains, falls, cuts and contusions. Even in training, the off-trail terrain takes its toll. A federation licence and standard contracts cover these accidents poorly, and the costs of care and rehabilitation add up.

A dedicated personal accident insurance takes over: medical costs, care, rehabilitation and disability are covered according to your guarantees, in training and in IOF competition. You can progress with a free mind.

If you are injured in training or in competition, follow these steps.

1. Contact assistance first. Before any medical expense, call the assistance line on your card: its prior agreement is required before any hospitalisation, procedure, medical transport or repatriation.

2. Follow its instructions. Except in a life-threatening emergency, wait for its agreement before incurring costs; it directs you to the most suitable facility and organises your care.

3. Keep all your supporting documents. Initial medical certificate, reports, prescriptions and invoices are essential to process your claim.
