Cork oaks, rockrose and loose stones: how your cover responds

Sprained ankle on stony Portuguese ground, care up to €150,000

Portuguese terrain mixes loose stones, holes hidden in the grass and ditches, so a twisted ankle is the classic injury, followed by cuts from rockrose and fences. Medical costs are covered up to €150,000, including consultation, X-rays and surgery if you need it.

icon Transport et rapatriement

Stretchered out from a control deep among the cork oaks

Controls often sit far from any track, and a fracture can leave you stuck kilometres from the finish. Assistance and repatriation at actual cost cover your evacuation from the accident site and your trip home afterwards, whether that is Stockholm, Helsinki or Leeds.

icon Option compétition

Multi-day rankings and your season: the Competition option

The POM is raced stage by stage with an overall ranking, and its races often count on the international calendar. The Competition option covers you in these official races, then for the rest of your orienteering season, from local events to championships.

icon Capital invalidité

Permanent damage from a slide down a bank, up to €200,000

A slide down a steep bank or a crash into a stump can injure a knee or shoulder for good. The permanent disability lump sum, up to €200,000, steps in if after-effects remain once you have healed, to help you adapt daily and working life.

Day three, tired legs: when orienteers get hurt at the POM

Fatigue builds from one stage to the next, and the ankle often gives way on the third or fourth day. Runners arriving from snowy countries find dry, hard ground, slopes of rolling stones and brambles. One reading error and you cut straight through the vegetation, exactly where most falls happen.

The rest of the year you run in forests, urban sprints or night events with a headtorch and compass. An orienteering insurance policy with personal accident cover protects every outing, training or racing, at home or abroad, whatever your country of residence happens to be.
