Why is Tai Chi insurance essential?

Tai chi and qi gong, internal Chinese arts, rely on slow postures, weight transfers and prolonged breath work. Far from risk-free, these held positions place lasting strain on the knees, ankles and back, causing tendinitis, lower-back pain and joint pain. A fall during a loss of balance can also happen. Standard licences and contracts cover these accidents poorly, and treatment and rehabilitation costs pile up.

A dedicated personal accident insurance takes over: medical costs, care, rehabilitation and disability are covered according to your plan, in class as at seminars. You can then practise with a free mind.

If you are injured during a class, a seminar or a demonstration, follow these steps.

1. Contact the assistance service first. Before any medical spending, call the assistance line shown on your card: its prior agreement is required before any hospitalisation, procedure, medical transport or repatriation.

2. Follow its instructions. Unless there is a life-threatening emergency, wait for its go-ahead before incurring costs; it directs you to the most suitable facility and arranges your care.

3. Keep every supporting document. Initial medical certificate, reports, prescriptions and invoices are essential to process your claim.

Tai chi is a slow, internal practice, while wushu is dynamic with acrobatic forms and full-contact combat. For that discipline, see our wushu insurance.
