Why is pole vault insurance essential?

The pole vault chains a fast run-up, a pole plant, an inverted swing and a flight several metres above the ground before landing on the mat. This height and the risk of a missed vault expose the whole body, and a broken pole, a badly controlled landing or a miss causes fractures, head trauma, sprains and contusions. If you are injured in training or in competition, follow these steps.

1. Contact assistance first. Before any medical expense, call the assistance line on your card: its prior agreement is required before any hospitalisation, procedure, medical transport or repatriation.

2. Follow its instructions. Except in a life-threatening emergency, wait for its agreement before incurring costs; it directs you to the most suitable facility and organises your care.

3. Keep all your supporting documents. Initial medical certificate, reports, prescriptions and invoices are essential to process your claim.

The pole vault uses a pole to reach heights around 5 to 6 m, while the high jump is a single-foot take-off with no equipment. Whatever your discipline, we cover the pole vault as well as the high jump and the long jump.
