Why is Mushing insurance essential?

Mushing means racing a dog sled over hundreds of kilometres: extreme cold, isolated expanses and efforts that sometimes last several days. Standard licences and contracts cover these accidents poorly, and treatment and rehabilitation costs pile up fast after a fall far from any road.

A dedicated personal accident insurance takes over: medical costs, evacuation, rehabilitation and disability are covered according to your plan, from training to great races like the Iditarod. You can then take on every raid with a free mind.

If you are injured during training, a raid or a race, follow these steps.

1. Contact the assistance service first. Before any medical spending, call the assistance line shown on your card: its prior agreement is required before any hospitalisation, procedure, medical transport or repatriation.

2. Follow its instructions. Unless there is a life-threatening emergency, wait for its go-ahead before incurring costs; it directs you to the most suitable facility and arranges your care.

3. Keep every supporting document. Initial medical certificate, reports, prescriptions and invoices are essential to process your claim.
