Why is judo insurance essential?

Judo is built on throws (nage-waza), hold-downs and ground work (ne-waza), with powerful, repeated falls. Grips and locks place heavy strain on the shoulders, elbows and neck, and a throw taken or a poorly controlled landing causes dislocations, sprains and trauma. Even in training, the intensity of randori takes its toll. A federation licence and standard contracts cover these accidents poorly, and the costs of care and rehabilitation add up.

A dedicated personal accident insurance takes over: medical costs, care, rehabilitation and disability are covered according to your guarantees, at the dojo and in IJF competition. You can progress with a free mind.

If you are injured in training, in competition or at a seminar, follow these steps.

1. Contact assistance first. Before any medical expense, call the assistance line on your card: its prior agreement is required before any hospitalisation, procedure, medical transport or repatriation.

2. Follow its instructions. Except in a life-threatening emergency, wait for its agreement before incurring costs; it directs you to the most suitable facility and organises your care.

3. Keep all your supporting documents. Initial medical certificate, reports, prescriptions and invoices are essential to process your claim.
