Why is electric surfing insurance essential?

An electric board reaches 40 to 50 km/h in a few seconds, on water that is far from soft at that speed. A fall at full throttle, a board that comes back at you, a collision with a buoy or another rider can cause contusions, cuts, a shoulder dislocation or a concussion. Add the battery, the offshore distance and the cold water, and a simple session can turn into a rescue. Yet a home insurance or a rental contract does not always cover the real costs, especially in case of surgery or a long rehabilitation.

No, it complements your licence. A federation licence is still required to train in affiliated clubs and enter official competitions. Our cover strengthens your protection with higher limits on medical expenses, repatriation and disability.

Our insurance covers the rider, not the board. Liability is not included either: it falls under your home insurance or your rental contract. For your equipment when travelling, the baggage option can complete your cover.

If you are injured during training, a session or a race, follow these steps.

1. Contact the assistance service first. Before any medical expense, call the assistance number shown on your card. Its prior approval is required before any hospitalisation, surgery, medical transport or repatriation.

2. Follow the assistance instructions. Except in a life-threatening emergency, wait for its approval before incurring costs. It will direct you to the most suitable facility and organise your care according to your cover. Expenses incurred without prior approval cannot be reimbursed.

3. Keep all your supporting documents. Initial medical certificate, reports, prescriptions, test results and invoices: they are essential to process your claim.
