A complete and tailored Aerostation insurance
Aerostation injury healthcare expenses
Up to €150,000. Polytrauma in emergency landing (strong wind at sea or mountain after long flight), cervical trauma in hard touchdown, vertebral fractures in basket fall, hypothermia in high-altitude flight (down to -50°C at 8000 m), electrocution from line contact: we cover gas-long-distance-flight-specific injuries.
Transport and repatriation
At actual cost. Gordon Bennett Cup (different venue each year: Albuquerque, Vienna, Poland), European Cup, adventure balloons (Atlantic, Asia crossings), emergency landings in foreign countries: we organise medical repatriation from any country.
Gas Flight Competition option
The Gas Flight Competition add-on covers Gordon Bennett Cup, European Gas Balloon Cup, World Championships, long-distance flights > 24h, duration and distance records, transatlantic crossings.
Disability benefit
Up to €200,000 per person. Gas aerostation combines extreme duration (70h+ non-stop flights in Gordon Bennett), high altitudes (up to 8000 m with hypoxia/hypothermia), random landings (no precise directional control, terrain per wind trajectory). Major risks in emergency landing at sea or hostile area.
Why is Aerostation insurance essential?
Gas aerostation uses hydrogen or helium to generate lift, without a burner like the hot-air balloon. The balloons can fly 50-70 hours non-stop and reach 8000 metres altitude. The Gordon Bennett Cup, created in 1906, remains the world's oldest aeronautical race: pilots take off together and the furthest wins. Risks are unique: pilot exhaustion, hypoxia and hypothermia at altitude, random landing with no directional control and power-line contact.
Our Aerostation insurance is the choice of Gordon Bennett Cup competitors, European Cup participants and transcontinental-crossing adventurers. For the hot-air balloon and its short flights, see Hot Air Balloon.
Yes. Gordon Bennett Cup (since 1906, world's oldest aeronautical race, 50-70h non-stop flights) covered with Gas Flight Competition add-on. Repatriation from any landing country included. See our plans.
Yes. High-altitude flights (up to 8000 m with mandatory oxygen) covered with Gas Flight Competition add-on. Hypoxia, hypothermia and specific risks handled.
Yes. Sea emergency landings (Mediterranean, Adriatic, Baltic per trajectory) covered. Maritime rescue, post-immersion care (hypothermia) included.
Yes. Both lifting gases (hydrogen = more lift but flammable, helium = inert but more expensive) covered. Hydrogen fire risks (rare with modern protocols) included in contract.
It depends on your programme. For Gordon Bennett (1 week), the weekly plan suits. For a long-duration record project or multi-event year, the annual plan with Gas Flight Competition add-on is best. Get your online quote.
