Why is Balance Bike insurance essential?

Balance bikes introduce children aged 2 to 5 to balance and speed: their first races at the Strider Cup, the RPCRS Coupe de France and FFC cycling schools. Even at low speed, a fall on the head or an awkward landing can lead to trauma and fractures in a toddler. Standard licences and contracts cover these accidents poorly, and treatment and rehabilitation costs pile up.

A dedicated personal accident insurance takes over: medical costs, care, rehabilitation and disability are covered according to your plan, at cycling school as in competition. Your child can then learn with a free mind.

Yes, the Strider Cup is covered. The RPCRS Coupe de France and FFC cycling schools are included too, under the Balance Bike option. Explore our plans.

Yes, head injuries are covered. Even with a mandatory helmet, knocks to the head and the falls typical of learning are all included in your child's cover.

Children from 2 to 5 years old are covered. A specific child rate applies, at cycling school as in their first competitions, in England and abroad.

If you are injured during learning, cycling school or a race, follow these steps.

1. Contact the assistance service first. Before any medical spending, call the assistance line shown on your card: its prior agreement is required before any hospitalisation, procedure, medical transport or repatriation.

2. Follow its instructions. Unless there is a life-threatening emergency, wait for its go-ahead before incurring costs; it directs you to the most suitable facility and arranges your care.

3. Keep every supporting document. Initial medical certificate, reports, prescriptions and invoices are essential to process your claim.

A balance bike is a pedal-free bike for toddlers, while an electric balance bike is a fast throttle machine (Sur-Ron, Talaria). For that practice, see our electric balance bike insurance.
