Five days upright on a board, what the paddler sorts out first

Shoulders, wrists, tendons: €150,000 of medical costs

Six to eight hours of paddling a day, five days running, and the rotator cuff eventually gives in. Tendon trouble, a sprained wrist, a fall off the board while squeezing past a lock gate: your medical costs are covered up to €150,000, hospital stay included.

icon Transport et rapatriement

Lifted out of a canal with no road nearby, taken home

Between two villages the bank can be a wet meadow with no vehicle access, and the support boat takes time to work its way up the channel. If evacuation is needed, assistance and repatriation are covered at actual cost, from the waterside to your home address.

icon Option compétition

Race numbers now, a full season later, with the Competition option

You are chasing a placing over the five stages, then other long distance races through the year. The Competition option covers you in official competition, on this race and across the rest of your calendar, at home or abroad.

icon Capital invalidité

If one stage costs you your mobility, up to €200,000

A head first fall onto a shallow bank, a back that mistimes one hard stroke in a crosswind, and the damage can be lasting. Where permanent disability is recognised after the accident, a capital sum of up to €200,000 is paid out.

Why the shoulder gives out before the legs over 220 km

Day one almost goes to plan. Day three is where it unravels: technique drops off, the core stops holding the position, and the lower back absorbs everything that is left. A headwind on the Frisian lakes doubles the workload, September water chills a soaked body fast, and blistered hands turn every stroke into a bad idea.

Beyond these five days, stand-up paddling happens at sea, on rivers and across lakes, downwind as well as on quiet touring runs. A stand-up paddle insurance policy keeps you covered all year, in training and in racing, whatever country you live in and whatever water sits under your board.
