What a privateer needs sorted before the Le Mans start

icon Frais médicaux

Cold tyres at the Dunlop chicane, up to €150,000 in care

Leaving the pits on tyres that have lost their heat is how many riders end up in the gravel, often with a broken collarbone or wrist. Medical costs are covered up to €150,000, including treatment, hospital stays and surgery after a bodily injury.

icon Transport et rapatriement

From the Sarthe paddock back to your own front door

Teams travel from across Europe and beyond, and a support van is no place for an injured rider. Assistance and repatriation are paid at actual cost, from evacuation at the circuit to the journey home, wherever you live and whichever team you ride for.

icon Option compétition

An EWC round and the rest of your season, race cover included

Le Mans counts towards the world endurance championship, so standard leisure cover is not enough. The Competition option protects you in official races, here and at every other round of your season, while practice days and track sessions remain covered too.

icon Capital invalidité

Spinal or pelvic injury, a lump sum of up to €200,000

A highside in the small hours can leave lasting damage to the spine or pelvis long after the chequered flag. The permanent disability benefit pays up to €200,000 depending on the assessed rate, helping you adapt your home or your work if racing is over.

Why does the April night catch out so many crews?

Spring at Le Mans brings cold mornings, sudden showers and a track that cools fast after dark. Privateer riders sleep in snatches between hour-long stints, then climb back onto a bike they have not felt for two hours. Traffic between classes, rushed pit stops and 4am fatigue explain most of the crashes.

Endurance racing is not a single weekend. Track days, private testing and shorter races fill a rider's calendar all year. Our motorcycle racing insurance covers each of those days as personal accident cover, in France or abroad, and the Competition option extends it to every official race you enter.

FAQ

Questions riders ask before the Le Mans running start

Yes. With the Competition option, cover applies throughout the race, from the sprint to your bike to the chequered flag, day and night, as well as during qualifying sessions.

Yes. AxeoSport personal accident insurance is open to athletes whatever their country of residence. Medical costs in France and repatriation to your home are covered on exactly the same terms.

No. This is personal accident insurance, not cancellation insurance. It does not refund entry fees or travel, but it covers the consequences of a bodily injury before or during the race.

Training is covered just like competition. A fall during a March test day gives you access to medical costs, assistance and, if you are left with lasting effects, the disability benefit.

The price depends on your profile and the cover you choose, including the Competition option. Our online quote gives you the exact figure in a few minutes, with no commitment.
