Your second run leg, and what it can cost you

icon Frais médicaux

Achilles gone on the final run, care up to €150,000

Setting off on foot again with legs emptied by the bike is exactly when a calf, a hamstring or an Achilles lets go. The pain arrives without warning, sometimes within sight of the finish. Medical costs are covered up to €150,000, scans and surgery included.

icon Transport et rapatriement

Off the bike and unable to move, assistance then home

A rolled ankle or a crash leaving transition can put you on the ground with no way of getting yourself back. Assistance arranges evacuation and repatriation at real cost, from the edge of the course to your own home, however far away that is.

icon Option compétition

Short format, official ranking, season-long cover

Nobody manages their effort over a format this brief. Riders hit transition flat out, with loose shoes and slick cleats underfoot. The Competition option covers official racing, at this duathlon and across every other number you pin on this year.

icon Capital invalidité

After permanent injury, a capital sum up to €200,000

A collision on the bike leg of a town-centre race can leave lasting damage to a knee, a shoulder or the head. The permanent disability capital can reach €200,000, money for adapting a home, a car and a working life.

Eight kilometres of running, two transitions, no easing in

A short duathlon is won and lost in transition, so riders enter it far too fast. March often leaves the ground damp, cleats slip and bikes touch. Then comes the second run, the treacherous one, on quads that are already full: the stride collapses, the ankle turns, the tendon takes everything. Humid heat finishes the job.

The rest of the year is intervals on the track, road rides in open traffic and transition drills repeated in a car park. Those hours are where your real exposure sits. Year-round duathlon insurance covers that training the same way it covers race day, whatever country you are in.
