Slate, cold water, a Welsh mountain pass: one accident policy

icon Frais médicaux

Wet slate, steep quarry paths and twisted ankles

The run takes you through former slate quarries, on narrow paths and steep sections where the rock turns slick in Welsh rain. A rolled ankle or a fall onto sharp stone happens in a second. Medical costs up to €150,000 cover treatment, hospital care and surgery.

icon Transport et rapatriement

Off the Llanberis Pass and back home, repatriation included

A crash on the fast descent of the pass, on a narrow Snowdonia road, may call for evacuation to a distant hospital and a trip home afterwards. Assistance and repatriation at actual cost arranges the transport, whether you live in Cardiff, Lyon or further afield.

icon Option compétition

Sprint, standard or ultra, the Competition option fits your race

Whichever distance you enter, The Slateman is an official race with results. The Competition option covers it, along with every other official event in your season and the hill sessions and lake swims that get you ready.

icon Capital invalidité

A €200,000 capital if the Welsh mountains leave their mark

A head injury from a bike crash or a complex fracture in the quarries can limit your mobility for good. The permanent disability capital, up to €200,000, is paid according to your assessed disability rate, to help with the long-term consequences.

When rain sweeps across Snowdonia, slate shows no mercy

In late May or June, Llyn Padarn is still cold, and a wetsuit does not always stop the shock at the start. The pass is a steady climb, then a fast descent on roads that are often damp. On the quarry paths, legs heavy from the bike stumble far more easily than fresh ones.

Welsh mountain racing takes months of preparation: long hilly rides, lake swims and off-road runs. Our triathlon insurance covers that training just as it covers race day, in Wales and everywhere else, so every session of your season is protected in exactly the same way.

FAQ

Questions from competitors before diving into Llyn Padarn

Yes. A fall, sprain or fracture on the run counts as an accident causing bodily injury, just like on the swim or the bike. Medical costs are covered up to €150,000.

Nothing in principle: the guarantees are the same whatever your distance. What matters is adding the Competition option, so that you are covered during an official timed race like The Slateman.

No. This is not cancellation insurance, so neither your entry nor your trip to Wales is refunded. AxeoSport only steps in after an accident causing bodily injury.

Yes. Cover applies in training as well as in racing, at home and abroad. A reconnaissance ride over the bike course or a run through the quarries is therefore protected.

The price depends on your profile and the cover you choose. The online quote shows it straight away, including the Competition option if you decide to add it.
