Follow the lake shore with four guarantees running

icon Frais médicaux

Up to €150,000 of treatment when the air turns cold

Muscle cooled by the wind off the lake tears more easily, and damp late-autumn tarmac makes footing unreliable on the quays. A torn hamstring, a broken wrist, concussion after a fall: medical costs are covered up to €150,000, Swiss treatment included.

icon Transport et rapatriement

Evacuation works even on a quiet stretch of shoreline

Between two lakeside villages the nearest ambulance is not always two minutes away. Assistance organises the evacuation from the exact point where you went down, then repatriation to your home address at actual cost, however far across Europe that happens to be.

icon Option compétition

The Competition option carries into next season

Lucerne often closes a road season that began in spring. The Competition option guarantees official competitive running, on this marathon and on whatever you race next, from a spring half to a summer 10 km, in Switzerland or anywhere else.

icon Capital invalidité

A €200,000 capital sum for lasting damage

A fall on wet asphalt can mark a hip or a knee for good, changing how you work as much as how you run. The permanent disability capital can reach €200,000, paid to help you absorb that change.

How does autumn cold change a marathon?

At the end of October you set off in seven or eight degrees and may finish in rain. Many runners dress as if it were September, stiffen after 20 km and pull a hamstring. Wet leaves pressed onto the lakeside tarmac are slippery, especially in the tight turns along the quays where everyone takes the inside line.

The race is only the end of eleven months of training, much of it alone, in winter, on dark cold roads. That is where most accidents happen. The contract follows you through all of it, at home and abroad. Look at our marathon insurance if you want the whole year covered.

FAQ

Common questions from Lucerne entrants

Yes. All three SwissCityMarathon Lucerne distances are covered on identical terms, on the course and in the start and finish zones, for every properly registered runner.

No. Conditions make no difference at all. A bodily accident in rain or at five degrees is handled like any other, and medical costs and assistance apply with no temperature clause attached.

No. This is individual accident insurance, not cancellation insurance. Your entry, hotel and train stay your own expense. What it does cover is the bodily consequences of an accident.

It coordinates evacuation from wherever you were hurt, working with the Swiss emergency services, then arranges your journey home at actual cost, whatever the distance involved turns out to be.

It depends on how long you want cover for and whether you add the Competition option. The AxeoSport online quote gives you an exact figure in a couple of clicks, with no obligation.
