Why is Gaelic football insurance essential?

Gaelic football combines running, catching in the air and shoulder-to-shoulder contact, at 15 against 15 and almost without protective gear. Aerial duels, hand passes at full speed and repeated changes of direction put ankles, knees and fingers to the test. Even in recreational play, a sprain, a broken finger or a knee injury can happen quickly. Yet a club membership does not always cover the real costs, especially in case of surgery or a long rehabilitation.

A personal accident insurance takes over: it complements your licence, reimburses the expenses left at your charge and follows you in England as abroad, in training as in matches. You can keep progressing, playing every match and living your passion with a free mind, knowing the unexpected is covered.

Gaelic football is played 15 against 15, with the hands and the feet, and shoulder contact is allowed. The ball can be carried, hand-passed and kicked, and points are scored over or under the bar. Both sports are covered, each with its own dedicated page. Discover our plans.

No, it complements your licence. A federation licence is still required to train in affiliated clubs and enter official competitions. Our cover strengthens your protection with higher limits on medical expenses, repatriation and disability.

Our insurance covers the player, not the gear. Liability is not included either: it falls under your licence or home insurance. For your kit when travelling, the baggage option can complete your cover.

If you are injured during training, a match or a tournament, follow these steps.

1. Contact the assistance service first. Before any medical expense, call the assistance number shown on your card. Its prior approval is required before any hospitalisation, surgery, medical transport or repatriation.

2. Follow the assistance instructions. Except in a life-threatening emergency, wait for its approval before incurring costs. It will direct you to the most suitable facility and organise your care according to your cover. Expenses incurred without prior approval cannot be reimbursed.

3. Keep all your supporting documents. Initial medical certificate, reports, prescriptions, test results and invoices: they are essential to process your claim.
