Why insure your castells practice?

Castells raise people up to ten storeys high on nothing but shoulders: a wobble at the top means a fall onto the pinya, with fractures and sprains for climbers as for the base. Licences and standard contracts cover these accidents poorly, and care costs add up quickly after a tower collapse.

A dedicated personal accident insurance takes over: medical expenses, transport, rehabilitation and disability are covered according to your guarantees, in colla training as at diades. You can then climb every tower with a free mind.

Yes. The young members who climb to crown the castell can be insured like any other participant, with cover suited to their role. We simply recommend adjusting the guarantees to the height they climb and the position they hold.

Yes, cover applies when your colla performs abroad for a festival or an exhibition. Medical costs incurred on site are handled and medical repatriation is arranged if your condition requires it.

The pinya takes the full weight of a collapsing tower, so crushing and impact injuries are real there. Cover applies to every position, and we advise members at the base to keep a solid medical-expenses and disability capital.

No. The cover is open to colla members and to occasional participants alike. Whether you belong to a registered colla or join a display, your personal accident insurance for castells follows you through rehearsals and diadas.

If you are injured during a diada or colla training, follow these steps.

1. Contact the assistance service first. Before any medical expense, call the assistance number shown on your card. Its prior approval is required before any hospitalisation, surgery, medical transport or repatriation.

2. Follow the assistance instructions. Except in a life-threatening emergency, wait for its approval before incurring costs. It will direct you to the most suitable facility and organise your care according to your cover. Expenses incurred without prior approval cannot be reimbursed.

3. Keep all your supporting documents. Initial medical certificate, reports, prescriptions, test results and invoices: they are essential to process your claim.
