Why is discus throw insurance essential?

The discus throw is built on a fast full rotation in the circle before releasing the disc with an explosive twist. This rotational effort places heavy strain on the lower back, shoulders and knees, and a badly controlled rotation or a slip in the circle causes lumbago, shoulder tendinitis, knee twists and muscle tears. Even in training, the repeated throws take their toll. A federation licence and standard contracts cover these accidents poorly, and the costs of care and rehabilitation add up.

A dedicated personal accident insurance takes over: medical costs, care, rehabilitation and disability are covered according to your guarantees, in training and in World Athletics competition. You can progress with a free mind.

If you are injured in training or in competition, follow these steps.

1. Contact assistance first. Before any medical expense, call the assistance line on your card: its prior agreement is required before any hospitalisation, procedure, medical transport or repatriation.

2. Follow its instructions. Except in a life-threatening emergency, wait for its agreement before incurring costs; it directs you to the most suitable facility and organises your care.

3. Keep all your supporting documents. Initial medical certificate, reports, prescriptions and invoices are essential to process your claim.

The discus throw uses a full rotation to release a flat disc, while the shot put is a push of a heavy shot from the shoulder. Whatever your discipline, we cover the discus throw as well as the shot put and the hammer throw.
