Why is climbing insurance essential?

Climbing exposes you to specific risks : finger pulley ruptures (typical finger-strength injury), bouldering falls without rope (mat landing), lead falls with impact per length, belay errors causing serious accidents, cranio-cervical impacts in overhang fall, chronic fatigue on multi-pitch. The federation licence covers part but finger or cervical surgery exceeds caps.
