Twisted ankle on a dark kerb, €150,000 of care

Darkness flattens the road. A tram rail, a wet drain cover, a kerb you never saw, and your ankle folds at race pace. Medical costs are covered up to €150,000, from the emergency room through to surgery and follow-up physiotherapy.

icon Transport et rapatriement

A relay leg that ends in an ambulance at 1am

Relay teams travel in from across the country and sleep far from home. A night-time evacuation leaves an injured runner stranded without a car or a driver. Assistance and repatriation are covered at actual cost, right through to your own front door.

Chip timing means you are racing, not jogging

A chip-timed marathon counts as official competition, and plenty of policies quietly stop there. The Competition option covers your Bordeaux bib and the rest of your season, including the long Sunday runs and whatever race you sign up for next.

icon Capital invalidité

Lasting damage from a pack collision, up to €200,000

Dense packs in the first kilometres, a fall onto asphalt at full speed: some injuries never fully heal. The permanent disability capital reaches €200,000, which matters when a shoulder or a knee keeps you off work for months.

What actually goes wrong when a marathon starts at night?

An evening start turns the whole day upside down. Runners eat lunch too late, drink too little, then set off while April tarmac is still holding the afternoon's warmth. Reduced visibility does the rest: you misread a change of surface, clip a bollard, or catch an elbow in the crowded opening kilometres. Ankles and wrists take the hit.

One April night is not the whole story. You will be out before dawn for long runs, on the track midweek, and probably on another start line by autumn. Year-round marathon insurance follows you through training and racing, in France and abroad, whatever country you live in.

FAQ

Questions runners ask about the night marathon

Yes. The start time makes no difference to the guarantee. A fall caused by darkness, a shadow or a surface you could not see is treated as a bodily accident and covered.

No. Each relay runner needs their own policy, because individual accident insurance covers one person. Your teammates can each sign up separately before race night.

This is not cancellation insurance. It refunds neither your entry fee nor your travel. It responds to the physical consequences of an accident, during the race and throughout your training.

Yes. The guarantee applies whatever country you live in, and repatriation brings you home rather than leaving you in a French hospital. Cover runs through your stay and the race itself.

The price depends on how long you want cover for and whether you add the Competition option. The online quote gives you a figure in a couple of minutes, with no commitment.
